About Us

Dean Dean has been guiding for twenty-five years. He grew up in northern California fishing the river banks for steelhead and salmon. He moved to Montana in 1980 where he met his wife, Bonnie and had two children, Jonathan and Jennifer. He started guiding in 1984 and then purchased Rocky Point Outfitters in 1996. Dean has hunted from Alaska to Africa. His nickname is “bull of the woods” and as you can imagine, he has earned that title! Dean feels fortunate to have found a way to make a living doing what he loves every day of the year. When he is not hunting, or fishing for pike and bass on the Clark Fork River, you will find him in his taxidermy shop. Dean has been doing taxidermy for twenty-five years and has won numerous awards at World, National and State Taxidermy competitions. He is now offering one to two week taxidermy workshops.
Bonnie Bonnie was born and raised in western Montana. She met Dean in 1980 and has two children, Jonathan and Jennifer. She is passionate about the outdoors as well so when Dean came to her with his idea of purchasing their own outfitting business, it seemed a perfect fit for their lifestyle. Bonnie is an avid hunter and loves to go fishing in the jet boat on the Clark Fork River. Her favorite pastime is overnight backpacking in the backcountry with Jennifer and her sister Barbara. She loves taking pictures and is always in pursuit of capturing a photo of a grizzly bear (much to the dismay of her hiking partners). When Bonnie is not in the taxidermy shop skinning and fleshing, you will find her out exploring all the wonders that Mother Nature has to offer each day. Bonnie feels one of the greatest gifts you can teach your children is the love for the outdoors.
Jonny Jon (28 yrs) lives in Big Sky, Montana. He takes time off from his job every year to guide for us during our archery and rifle season. He aspires to some day take over Rocky Point Outfitters. He has a profound respect for nature and is a hard worker and guide. He has an excellent eye for spotting elk and deer. Jon is an avid bow hunter and an accomplished fly-fisherman as well as spin caster. He can also sniff out the best fishing spots day after day and is more than happy to give pointers to novice anglers. Jon enjoys telling stories about growing up in rural Montana, such as his near-death experience with a mountain lion. He also has a seemingly endless supply of jokes to entertain the guests during happy hour and mealtime! When Jon is not working in the rugged Spanish Peaks, you will find him either snow skiing at Lone Peak, in his hiking boots scouting for elk, or in his hip-waders creating his next fly-fishing adventure.
Jenny Jennifer (26 yrs) lives in Missoula, Montana. She comes home every free opportunity she has during hunting season to help scout and pack out big game for us. She is an avid hunter and an accomplished angler. Jennifer is as much at home in the woods as she is in the malls of Missoula, Montana. When she is not at work as a retail manager, you will find her either in her running shoes training for a road race, in her hiking boots preparing for a 5-day trek in Glacier National Park or snow skiing at Big Sky, Jackson Hole or Snow Bowl Ski Resort. Jennifer has an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. She enjoys sharing stories of her adventures in Glacier National Park or hiking the wild Cabinet Mountains.
